![]() ![]() On the remote Windows computer, open the VNC Server dialog. For tigervnc and tightvnc the installation proceeds, I create the configuration, but when I try to connect I get a grey. For vino, I don't get the screensharing option in the settings. I want to install a vnc-server on a Ubuntu 18.04 desktop (clean install). VNC connection results in grey or black screen.Anyone can help me with this issue? Offline Context menu can be brought out using F8 key but none of the options ever gave any response. But when I ran the command vncserver on the host and tried to access it via tigervnc viewer on a Windows machine, a black window appeared with a clock on the upper right corner and nothing more happened. ![]() When I try to login via VNC, I get a black gray windows with X window cursor see attached screenshot (background.jpeg). Hi Linux Experts, I got some issues working on Xdmcp on my RHEL 6 Server. But when I ran the command vncserver on the host and tried to access it via tigervnc viewer on a Windows machine, a black window appeared with a clock on the upper right corner and nothing more happened. As I want to run some desktop environment on my homelab, I have xorg, xfce4 and tigervnc installed and intend to access it using VNC.vncserver :1 -geometry 1280x720 -depth 24 -dpi 96 (same as desktop resolution but not sure about depth and dpi) When starting the VNC server as the VNC user I get this: vnc/xstartup (add gnome-session & to the bottom of the file) 16. Please follow this: delete /etc/X11/nf make sure nvidia-prime is installed (sudo apt install -reinstall nvidia-prime) switch to nvidia (sudo prime-select nvidia) remove stray blacklist files (sudo rm /lib/modprobe.d/nf /etc/modprobe.d/nf) update the initrd (sudo update-initramfs -u) reboot 4 Likes13. I have tried using multiple VNC viewers and each one has the same results: the viewer window is a black screen (sometimes a blue screen.) clicking on the viewer correctly sends the events to the phone (I can see the screen change, etc.) but it is just blind clicking and pretty unusable. However, there’s nothing more irritating then seeing the dreaded black or grey VNC screen: It is such a productivity suck and pain in the ass to deal with. It’s super fast (of course, in a local network!), and gets the job done when a plain terminal doesn’t cut it. ![]()
